The Heart and Soul of Doubles Volleyball
(Rules for the Court and for Life)

1. A team of two is greater than two individuals
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up (Eccl 4:9-10).
2. Be an encouragement
Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you also are doing (1Thes 5:11).
3. Tolerate mistakes, beware of self-destruction
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another (Gal 5:14-15).
4. Use the talents you have, God will bring growth
For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away (Mt 25:29).
5. Play beyond your boundaries
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men (Prov 22:29).
6. Make use of the scraps
When they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost." So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten (Jn 6:12-13).
7. Don't give up, God blesses far reaching efforts
Paul prayed, longed, planned, was obligated and eager to visit the Romans but had "been prevented" from doing so. Since he was unable to see them in person he wrote them the Epistle of Romans (Rom 1:8-15).
8. Excel in two roles: impact and assistance
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might (Ecc 9:10). Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all" (Mk 9:35).
9. Play with passion with abandon
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (Phil 1:21).
10. Reflect God's image
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (1 Cor 10:31).
