Cuisine and Worldview

The essence of cuisine is our relationship with nature.  Food, clothing, and shelter are three basic elements of provision that God ultimately provides.  On this very fundamental level, food and drink preserve the health of the physical body in the physical world.  Cuisine can also an outlet for creativity, beauty, achievement, and so forth.

In academia, cuisine shows up on the third of three tiers as an applied art and as the applied health science of nutrition.  Even though the roots of cuisine is in our relationship with nature, God would have us pursue it with passion and glorify Him through it.

Like many other activities, consumption of food and drink must be done in moderation.  In excess, food and drink can be unhealthy, unsafe, and can diminish the Lord's place in our life.  In the worse case, food, drink and other substances are used in attempts to meet needs that only God can fulfill.  But in moderation, food and drink from God's world will sustain the body, be a pleasurable experience, and bring glory to God.
