Two Assumptions: God Exists
& God Reveals
-
Christianity stands upon the
assumptions of God's existence & His revelation.
-
In Part II we sought out a detailed
Biblical perspective of God's existence.
-
Let us now examine the second
assumption of God's revelation in greater detail.
-
At the center of God's revelation
is the Bible.
The Critical Assumption: The
Authority of the Bible
-
From the Christian perspective,
all knowledge is founded upon God's revelation.
-
Much of God's work of revelation
is captured in the Bible.
-
Since the Bible is central to
God's revelation, let us examine its integrity.
-
We will first consider its internal
claims of authenticity.
-
In the chapter following, we
will seek evidences supporting its claims.
God Reveals: Inspiration, Preservation
& Enlightenment
-
God's special revelation includes
visions, prophecy, miracles, Jesus & Scripture.
-
The Bible is our focus since
it assembles other forms of special revelation.
-
Like His work of creation, God
initiates & oversees revelation.
-
God inspired the Bible's authors,
preserved its words & enlightens its readers.

Bible's Claims of Authority."
God's Revelation Prevails
-
The Bible's authors, content,
transmission & audience are often criticized
-
The Bible, however, does not
limit its own authority on any of these accounts.
-
God's revelation prevails over
its authors, content, transmission & audience.
-
The Bible's claim of its own
authenticity is supported by evidence.
